Kindergarten Scientists Investigate Pumpkins

Kindergarten students at Great Neck Road Elementary School recently put their science skills to work as they investigated the different parts of a pumpkin through a hands-on learning activity.
Using real pumpkins and magnifying glasses, students took a closer look at their pumpkin, carefully observing and identifying the stem, skin, pulp, seeds and strands. Together, they created a class chart labeling each part and discussing its purpose.
To reinforce their learning, kindergartners designed their own pumpkin illustrations and challenged themselves to label the different parts independently. The activity combined science, observation and vocabulary practice, helping students build a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Using their curious minds for this seasonal activity, the young learners enjoyed examining the pumpkins up close while developing their scientific observation skills and expanding their knowledge of fall-themed science concepts.
