As approved by the voters of the district, and outlined in the Copiague School Board of Education Policy 8411, the following distances have been established for student transportation:
Students Grades K-6
Students are required to walk a distance of up to three quarters (3/4) of a mile from their home to school. Students residing 
more than three quarters (3/4) of a mile from home to school are entitled to transportation.
Students Grades 7-8
Students are required to walk up to one (1) mile from their home to school. Students residing more than one (1) mile from home to school are entitled to transportation.
Students Grades 9-12
Students are required to walk up to one and one-half (1 ½) miles from home to school. Students residing more than one and one-half (1 ½) miles from home to school are entitled to transportation.
Special Transportation Requests
Medical Transportation
If you believe your child needs medical transport, requests must be made annually. All requests are reviewed by the district doctor.
Bus Stop Changes
Bus stop change forms will be reviewed by the Transportation Department, and you will be notified by mail or email with a decision.
Childcare Transportation
If you are changing the bus stop for babysitting purposes, you will need to fill out a Childcare Request Form.
