Copiague Names New Assistant Superintendent For Finance

Copiague School District has appointed Karilyn Korec as its new assistant superintendent for finance and operations, effective Aug. 1.
Since joining the Copiague School District in 2021, Ms. Korec has served as district treasurer and, most recently, as assistant business administrator. From 2017-2021, she worked as an accountant for the Bayport-Blue Point School District.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as assistant superintendent for finance and operations,” she said. “I look forward to providing strategic fiscal leadership, promoting transparency and collaboration, and ensuring that every financial decision supports the district's commitment to educational excellence and student achievement.”
Ms. Korec holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. Joseph’s University and a master’s degree in business administration from the College of St. Rose. Additionally, she has advanced certifications in organizational leadership/change management and school district business leader from the College of St. Rose.
