Animation Students Recognized At Media Arts Show

Students from Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School showcased their creativity and talent at the 2026 Long Island Media Arts Show, an educational conference and juried exhibition for high school visual arts students held in collaboration with Five Towns College. This year, a group of students in visual arts teacher Crystal Gray’s animation class earned an honorable mention for their outstanding work.
The recognition highlights the continued growth and success of the school’s animation program, as students demonstrated their skills in digital media, storytelling and visual design. Their achievement reflects both their dedication to their craft and the strength of the program’s curriculum.
In addition to the group honor, Rocsi Ramirez and Mia Robles were each awarded scholarships to Five Towns College, where they may choose to pursue studies in interactive media arts. This prestigious opportunity underscores their exceptional talent and commitment to their artistic development.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their accomplishments,” said Gray. “Their recognition at this year’s Media Arts Show is a testament to their creativity, hard work and the supportive learning environment we strive to provide.”
