Coach Rebholz Honored

Head varsity boys basketball coach Steve Rebholz was honored prior to the Feb. 2 game for his contributions to the team and school community. Coach Rebholz graduated from Copiague and went on to represent the community at the highest level of the game. After high school, he continued his basketball journey at SUNY Farmingdale, and later at Hofstra University, where he distinguished himself as a standout player. He became a first-round draft pick for the Long Island Surf and earned an invitation to the NBA camp for the Seattle Supersonics. Coach Rebholz is a proud 2008 inductee into the Copiague Hall of Achievement. This month, he will be officially inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame.
During his 26 years as a head coach, all of them dedicated entirely to this hometown program, Coach Rebholz has led the Eagles to 10 League titles, three Suffolk County titles, an All Long Island Championship and New York State Final Four. Along the way, he has also amassed 300 career wins. “On behalf of the Copiague school community and athletic department, we proudly recognize Coach Rebholz for his accomplishments and profound contributions as a remarkable coach, role model and a Copiague Eagle through and through,” said director of physical education and athletics William Bennett.
