Copiague Middle School Showcases Science Research Talent

Copiague Middle School held its annual science fair in early January, with more than 60 different projects showcasing students’ science research talents. Recently, Copiague Middle School’s Science Chair Dr. Daniel Leccese and science teacher Lenee Mason held an awards ceremony in the school’s cafeteria to announce the winners.
First place honors went to eighth grader Lenna Karwowska for her project “Investigating the Comparative Effects of Tapioca Starch Based and Polylactic Based Bioplastic on the Mortality of Artemia Salina.” Second place was awarded to eighth graders Matthew Arichabala Lopez for his project “Ice and Friction,” and Gabriella Agtuca for her project “Rays of Death.” Third place was given to eighth graders Cole Sells and Juliette Peralta for their project “Prosthetic vs. Human,” Yeslie Ventura for “The Effect Temperature Has on Magnetism,” and seventh grader Anala Amin for “Smart Sprouting.”
