Copiague Middle School Student Council Collects For Local Initiative
Copiague Middle School’s student council recently joined forces with Keep Your Change in Amityville to contribute to their annual Blessings in a Box initiative. Each year, the organization assembles decorated shoeboxes filled with essential items and thoughtful gifts for individuals and families facing food and housing insecurity, young adults who have aged out of foster care, adults with developmental delays, and families living in homeless shelters. The initiative culminates in a heartwarming holiday dinner where every attendee receives their own Blessing in a Box.
To support this important effort, the student council collected a variety of donations, including winter accessories like socks, gloves, hats, scarves and slippers, along with gift cards, candy, snacks, cosmetics, toys, books, puzzles, children’s coloring books, wrapping paper and shoeboxes for packaging. After gathering the items, student council members worked together to assemble the boxes, thoughtfully packing each one to ensure it would bring comfort and joy to someone in need.
