Copiague Welcomes Sixth, Ninth Graders For Orientation Days

Both Copiague Middle School and Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School opened their doors to welcome new middle and high school students during orientation programs held on August 28. The events were designed to help incoming sixth and ninth graders transition smoothly into their new schools while building connections with classmates and staff.
At Copiague Middle School, incoming sixth graders received their schedules, met with their teachers and toured the building. Students walked through their schedules, practiced using their lockers and met new friends, ensuring they felt comfortable and confident ahead of the first day of school.
Meanwhile, at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School, the Class of 2029 was welcomed for ninth grade orientation. Principal Joseph Agosta shared information on school policies, procedures and expectations before students broke into small groups and toured the building with their student ambassadors. Freshmen also visited their classrooms, practiced opening lockers and connected with their classmates.
Both orientation days reflected the district’s commitment to preparing students for success by fostering a welcoming, supportive and engaging school community.
