Balancing Fun And Fitness During Circus Unit

Students at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School are stepping right up to the circus this April as part of a fun and engaging physical education unit designed to build coordination, balance and confidence.
During the unit, students explore a variety of circus-style skills, including juggling, balancing plates, walking on stilts, balancing feathers, tossing scarves and more. Each activity challenges them to develop focus, perseverance and fine and gross motor skills in a supportive and energetic environment.
The circus-themed lessons provide a unique opportunity for students to stay active while trying new skills that encourage creativity and self-expression. Throughout the unit, students gain confidence and celebrate their progress along the way, learning the rewarding process of practice and improvement.
