Copiague Students Shine At Long Island Science Congress

Copiague Middle School students recently participated in the Long Island Science Congress on April 20, an adjudicated exhibition of student research projects representing middle, junior high and high schools across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Sponsored by the Long Island sections of the Science Teachers Association of New York State, the Long Island Science Congress provides students with the opportunity to present and be evaluated on independent scientific research, fostering inquiry, innovation and critical thinking.
Copiague Middle School students attended the Junior Division fair, which featured more than 500 students in grades 7 to 9, along with select high school participants. Throughout the event, students presented their projects to judges, engaged with peers from across Long Island and gained valuable experience in scientific communication and analysis. Congratulations to the following students: Lenna Karwowska, Gabriella Agtuca, Matthew Arichabala Lopez, Yeslie Ventura, Sophia Pena, LeShae Maybank, Naomi Frazier, Markian Dashko and Carlos Reyes.
Participation in the Long Island Science Congress reflects the district’s continued commitment to STEM education and providing students with opportunities to explore real-world scientific inquiry. Through experiences such as LISC, Copiague students continue to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in future academic and professional pursuits in science and beyond.
