Copiague Students Discover Ways To Protect The Planet

In honor of Earth Day on April 22, second and fourth grade students at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School explored ways to reduce, reuse and recycle while learning how to be more Earth-friendly citizens.
Second graders in Ms. Kelly’s class brainstormed simple yet impactful ways to keep the planet clean, such as walking or riding bikes to reduce air pollution, cleaning up litter and planting trees. They then brought their ideas to life through thoughtful writing pieces.
Fourth grade students in Ms. Ruggiero’s class took a deeper dive by researching environmental practices that help protect the Earth. After exploring a variety of sources, they created informative posters connecting their findings to their science unit on energy. From big ideas to everyday actions, students are learning that everyone can make a difference in caring for the planet.
