Students Welcomed Into Inaugural World Language Honor Societies

On March 11, Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School inducted Italian and Spanish language students into the World Language Honor Society. Students earned this distinction through a rigorous selection process under the direction of advisors Thomas Korn and Marie Accettella.
Director of World Languages Michelle Passeggiata welcomed guests to the event and praised the inductees for their commitment to world languages. “Your hard work and enthusiasm for language learning has set an example for our entire school community,” she said. “We are excited to see how your bilingualism continues to shape your futures and enrich the world around you.”
Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Principal Joseph Agosta added, “The induction of the first members of our World Language Honor Society represents more than academic achievement,” he said. “It represents curiosity, cultural understanding, and a commitment to seeing the world through perspectives beyond our own. Tonight, you become the founding members of a society that will carry forward a tradition of excellence at our school. Continue to use language as a bridge that connects people and ideas.”
