Buddy Classes Team Up For Turkey Disguises

Ms. Harned’s fifth graders and Ms. Sherlock’s first graders at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School kicked off their annual buddy class tradition with a festive November meetup filled with reading, creativity and teamwork. Each month, the buddy pairs come together to read, learn and create, and this month’s theme focused on Thanksgiving fun.
Students shared stories including “How to Hide a Turkey” and “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” before partnering up to design imaginative disguises for their own paper turkeys. With plenty of creativity, buddies transformed their turkeys into everything from superheroes to mermaids. This monthly tradition continues to strengthen friendships across grade levels while fostering confidence, collaboration and a love of learning.
