Copiague Honors Board Of Education

To express gratitude for their ongoing support of students and volunteer service, the members of the Copiague School District Board of Education were honored during the Oct. 27 meeting in celebration of School Board Recognition Week.
Every October, the New York State School Boards Association sponsors this observance to highlight the vital role school board members play in supporting public education across the state.
The evening’s celebration began with a special performance by the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Madrigal Choir. In recognition of the Board’s dedication, district groups and organizations made several thoughtful contributions in their honor. The Copiague Teachers Association made generous donations to two local food pantries, while the Copiague Association of Supervisors also contributed funds to the Eagle’s Nest Food Pantry. The Copiague Association of Principals made a monetary donation to the Chris Madden Scholarship, awarded annually to a graduating Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School senior.
The Copiague PTA Council also joined in the celebration, providing refreshments for the event and making a contribution to Kids Need More. In addition, members of the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Art Honor Society created a beautiful art piece for display in the Board of Education meeting room as a lasting expression of appreciation.
