Summer School Programs



Our four-week elementary summer school program provides opportunities for students to practice and enhance academic skills through enriching STEM based hands-on activities.


Location: Susan E. Wiley Elementary School

Session Dates: July 8th to August 1st

Program Days: Monday through Thursday (NO CLASSES ON FRIDAYS.)

Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM


Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students free of charge.

Transportation will be provided to eligible students.

It is very important that you request busing on the registration form.


K-5 Summer school registration is by invitation only.

Incoming K summer school seats are limited and will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

Placement in our Incoming K Summer Program will be confirmed by mailing.


It is important that all students attend school daily.

Students with excessive absences or lateness will be dropped from the program.

Secondary (High school & Middle school)


Copiague Secondary Summer School will be held this year at the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School.  Summer school will run from July 8th to August 1st for middle school students and from July 8th to August 14th for high school students. 

            Registration for summer school will be automatic.  Once the guidance department has been notified by a teacher that a student has either failed a course or a New York State Regents Examination, the student will automatically be registered into summer school. No further action will be required.  Schedules and information regarding summer school will be sent out the first week of July. Schedules will also be posted on the parent portal. 

            If your child is unable to attend summer school, you may remove them from registration by visiting the Copiague School District website.  Under the drop-down menu, “Students & Families” there will be an icon titled “Summer School Removal.” This will direct you to a google form to have the student removed from summer school.
